Services That Constantin Offers
Besides permaculture, two of Constantin's main services are ecotourism and nutrition.
Permaculture helps you to grow your own biological products. I transformed my garden into a little heaven, from which I eat 100% ecological fruits, vegetables and leafy greens and I can help you to grow yours.
I am the go-to person in the South of Moldova for travelers. I can meet with them, and host them for a few nights in my own house, now called CostelHostel, where I rent two rooms for both national and international guests.
I came to Moldova without much of an idea of what I would do or where I would stay. While searching online for a place in Chisinau, I was referred to Constantin. This alone shows the extent of his many friendships made near and far. Entering the neighborhood, I was greeted by his neighbor who guessed I was searching for Constantin’s place and brought me to the building. Constantin is an innovative and courteous person. He’s always looking at how to better his garden, his life, and the people around him. During my time there I learned much about the permaculture lifestyle and healthy eating. It was really a great place to relax and reconnect with nature. Cooking, working in the garden, and checking out the city of Cahul were all great experiences while hanging out with Constantin. I would recommend anyone traveling in Moldova to make a visit to Constantin. A great host and a comfortable atmosphere where you are sure to make a new friend.
Staying with Constantin was very nice, small house with sauna 5 km out of Cahul in a wonderful garden. Constantin is very talkative about his permaculture gardening system and loves to show you around in the region. also he is a good cook and offers dinner and breakfast. Highly recommended!
Constantin is a very impressive individual… Extremely interested and knowledgeable about sustainable horticulture in his modest garden with carefully propagated plants.
Great place to enjoy the Moldovan countryside! I visited Constantin and his place last summer with a friend and my dog. We had great time there! The place is very cozy. The garden has a lot of plants that Constantin explained to us. He is willing to talk about permaculture and Moldovan culture. Mamaliga cooked by Constantin and the shower in the garden MUST be tried!:) I recommend to make a stop in the village Rosu if you travel in Moldova! Constantin and his dog are great hosts!:)
Experience the Moldovan way of life and much more! CostelHostel is the best place to discover the life in a moldovan village, meet Moldovan people, try good food and discover a lot about the culture and the history. Constantin, the owner of the place, is an enthusiastic guy into a lot of interesting stuff such as vegetarianism, permaculture, sustainable tourism. He will make you feel like home and you won’t want to leave this place!

Ecotourism – A Great Sustainable Way To Travel
Ecotourism (or sustainable tourism) is when one goes on holiday visiting pristine and relatively undisturbed natural areas, simultaneously being cautious of the environment, where tourists will usually stay in the homes of the hosts. It is seen as an alternative to mass tourism, who can be significantly unsustainable. Its purpose is to learn about the locals culture, perhaps to help benefit the economic growth of local communities, to encourage understanding and respect for different cultures and human rights, to support personal growth and of course to have fun and relax. All of these with the smallest carbon footprint as possible and in a most responsible and sustainable way. The whole idea behind ecotourism is that it equally benefits the tourists, as well as the locals. Here are some guidelines to ecotourism: Protecting the environment – this means keeping to the footpath, not living litter and not starting fires, or protect the resources (not using to much water). No interference with the wildlife – meaning that we shouldn’t feed or scare the animals. Respecting the local culture and traditions – by wearing appropriate clothing and behaving appropriately. Ecotourism can include many activities, like surfing, cycling, walking, kayaking, swimming, diving and many others. When traveling at longer distances, public transport is recommended, especially electric ones. An example of the whole idea, as well as emphasizing agrotourism, is Constantin Furtuna. He owns a house with a beautiful permaculture garden in the countryside of Moldova. All year long he hosts people from all around the world who want to learn about the Moldovan culture, traditions, surroundings and much more. He organizes different activities like gardening, camping, cycling, birdwatching and more. You can also learn about different plants and herbs crops, or plant and harvest different vegetables, picking up berries, fruits and grapes. He can also cook delicious foods, giving you nutritional tips about the vegan and raw vegan diet. Find out more here. Over the last years, Ecotourism has expanded and created many new businesses and jobs which are directly related to tourism. The forests, wildlife and nature have been protected, as well as local communities which have been restored. According to UN, 2017 is the “International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development” so let’s encourage more this way of traveling.
